This is an original press photo. Built for speed and range, the Republic F-80 is the latest model Thunderjet operating in the U.S. Air Force. The F-804\'s, shown in formation, are one in the 600 mph class and can operate in a radius of action of more than 1,000 miles. It\'s recently improved service ceiling of 45,000 feet improves its efficiency for interceptor and penetration requirements. Originally designed for bomber escort and fighter duty, the F-84 can also perform strategic bombing missions on its own and is now equipped to carry atomic bombs. In view of their varied mission capabilities, F-84\'s are represented in the Strategic Air Command as units of the command\'s strategic fighter wings. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
