Vintage 1951 Royal Copenhagen Annual Christmas Plate featuring the beautiful “Christmas Angel” scene of an angel holding a candle while opening a doorway.
Designed by Richard Bøcher, the 1951 issue was his final Christmas plate design for Royal Copenhagen, following a small group of designs he created for the celebrated annual series. The 1951 plate has also become one of the more sought-after postwar issues in the Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plate series.
This is a first-quality example, with the Royal Copenhagen crown and three-wave factory marks intact and without the cancellation mark used to designate second-quality porcelain. Additional period production/painter markings are also present on the reverse.
The plate measures approximately 18 cm / 7 1/8 inches in diameter and displays Royal Copenhagen’s classic blue-and-white underglaze porcelain decoration. Hanging wire is present on the reverse as shown.
A particularly attractive example with excellent color, gloss, and overall presentation.

Excellent vintage condition. First-quality Royal Copenhagen example with no chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or repairs noted. The glazed surface remains exceptionally clean and glossy with very little visible wear. There is one tiny dark firing/glaze irregularity at the upper rim, shown clearly in the close-up photograph; it appears consistent with manufacture rather than later damage.
