Original Vintage 1950s The Occidental Restaurant Menu Where Statesmen Dine 1475 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington DC
By the 1950s the Occidental had long been a fixture of Pennsylvania Avenue, opened beside the Willard Hotel at 1411 Pennsylvania Avenue NW by Gustav Buchholz, a German immigrant and former Willard headwaiter. In 1956 his heirs sold the restaurant to brothers Danny and Sonny Price, who ran it under the slogan "Where Statesmen Dine," its walls hung with signed photographs of the presidents, diplomats, and officials who ate there. The original building was demolished in 1971, and the Occidental name was later revived nearby at 1475 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
It measures 7.5" x 6" closed and 12" x 7.5" open.
