Diamond Point “Challenger” Late 1930s Green Marbled Lever-Fill Fountain Pen

This is a late-1930s Diamond Point lever-fill fountain pen, commonly referred to by collectors as the “Challenger.” The standout feature is the green marbled body, with layers of dark green, olive, cream, yellow, and pearlescent tones that change noticeably under different lighting.

Diamond Point produced some particularly attractive pens during the 1920s and 1930s, and this one is a good example of why. The body material has survived remarkably well and has tremendous visual depth.

Restoration

The pen has been fully serviced and is ready to use. It was cleaned and polished, fitted with a replacement pressure bar and new size 16 ink sac, serviced, and tested for proper filling and writing.

The restoration was completed by The Restoration Ledger with an emphasis on returning the pen to reliable working condition while preserving as much of its original character as possible.

Condition

The green marbled cap and barrel present very well and retain strong color and attractive patterning. They show normal scratches and surface wear consistent with a fountain pen approaching ninety years old.

The clip and lever have lost most of their original plating and show visible age-related wear, corrosion, and surface imperfections. These areas were carefully cleaned and stabilized, but I intentionally did not polish them aggressively enough to remove every imperfection. Doing so would have risked removing even more of the remaining original finish.

Please review the photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description and show the exact pen you will receive.

A Pen With Its History Intact

This is not a pen that has been refinished to appear new. The worn hardware tells its age, while the beautifully preserved green marbled body shows exactly why someone chose it in the first place. Nearly ninety years later, it is once again filling and writing as a fountain pen should.

Restored and tested by The Restoration Ledger.
