Last January, Alex Kozeken, young Russian butcher, left a note for his young wife saying he had decided to end his life, that his body could be sought at the foot of a cross near San Francisco Bay. The wife notified South San Francisco Police, who found this cross erected by the Bay, with 13 steps cut in the sand, leading down to the water. Kozeken\'s clothes were found at the foot of the cross. The widow Josephine, 18 and her infant baby went to live with friends. In December, Kozeken appeared at the wife\'s new home and begged for forgiveness, saying it was a hoax to win her love, that he loved her and the baby. The wife refused to allow him to enter the house and after a vain effort to get a line on legal redress, Kozeken left again. Photo shows the XSNX hoax suicide cross and Chief Belloni and Captain Martin of the South San Francisco police department. Photo measures 6.5 x 8.5 inches. Photo is dated 12-11-1930. PHOTO FRONT
