Trying to butt the financiers of Wall Street has at best never been a profitable undertaking, and Lawson, who exposed the methods by which brokers gouge the stock buyer, suffered the consequences.
From the time his famous novel, \"Friday the 13th,\" was published, he was a marked man. He was driven out of large operations and finally lost his entire fortune, with the exception of a $50,000 annuity. Now his most treasured possession, Dreamwold, is going.
