Original 1914 Francis J. Heney U.S. Senate campaign postcard, advertising a political meeting at the Hotel Oakland in Oakland, California.
The front features a portrait of FRANCIS J. HENEY with the announcement inviting recipients to hear him speak during his campaign for the United States Senate. The card states that the meeting would mark the opening of Heney\'s campaign in Alameda County. The originally printed June 19 date was crossed out, with Hotel Oakland, Friday Evening, June 26th prominently printed at the bottom.

Heney was a prominent attorney and Progressive-era political figure. In the 1914 California Senate race he became the Progressive Party nominee for U.S. Senator, defeating Chester H. Rowell for that nomination in the August primary.
The reverse is especially interesting. This example was actually mailed, rather than being an unused piece of campaign literature. It bears an Alameda, California, June 22, 1914 postmark and is addressed to Rev. T. L. Mead, 2014 Central Ave., Alameda, California.
