The policy was issued September 28, 1914, and covers household furniture at 75 Brentwood Street, Portland, Maine, in the amount of $500 with a $5 premium.
The colorful lithographed cover features the North British & Mercantile Insurance Company of London & Edinburgh with attractive period typography and graphics. Also included is the original Norton, Hall & Webster insurance agency receipt dated October 6, 1914 and marked PAID November 10, 1914, along with the original postal stationery envelope bearing a 2ยข Washington stamp.
A nice early 20th-century insurance and Maine ephemera grouping documenting a specific policyholder, address, and local insurance agency. The decorative cover displays well and would make an excellent addition to an insurance, business history, Portland Maine, or paper ephemera collection.
