📄 Item Description:This is an original early 1910s tobacco felt quilt strip featuring four multicolor felts, likely issued by Murad Cigarettes (a brand of the American Tobacco Company). These felts were part of a premium series distributed in cigarette packs, designed for quilt-making and home decor.
This rare large-format variant features:
Princeton University (navy pennant with rug background)
Yale University (blue-on-white pennant with geometric rug design)
Two ornate rug-style pattern felts with rich orange, blue, and gold detailing
Each felt measures approx. 7\" x 4¾\". While these resemble the known B52 series in design, they are significantly larger than standard B52 felts and do not match the typical B33 designs, making them an unusual and possibly undocumented quilt-size issue.
The felts are still joined in a vertical quilt strip with red ribbon borders. Stitch impressions from past quilt use are visible. The original fringe was trimmed, as commonly done when felts were sewn into quilt panels. Colors remain vivid and striking.
