1905 Norfolk & Western Railway Henley Ohio Wellman Stone Hoisting Engine LetterOriginal 1905 Norfolk & Western Railway handwritten freight letter from Henley, Ohio, concerning the Wellman Stone Company, which operated sandstone quarries at Henley along the N&W line. The station agent reports shipment of a hoisting engine, discusses the required gondola or flat car, and a freight charge based on the 24,000-lb minimum weight at 11½ cents per hundred pounds. The letter was addressed to D. C. Bryan in Columbus, Ohio and is signed by Henley agent A. W. Ferguson.
Measuring about 8\" x 11\", item has some age toning, corner wear, and one hole on top edge. Not chippy. Good condition.

Dear Sir —
The Wellman Stone Co. today shipped one Hoisting Engine to Moore\'s, which required a Gond. or flat. I billed same out and collected for the minimum 24,000 lbs. at 11½ cts. per hundred.
Mr. Cox has made quite a kick about the amount, and to be sure I would like your advice on this.
