This is an exceptionally rare, original 1901 world's fair industrial exposition brochure titled "Norton Emery and Corundum Wheels," published by the Norton Emery Wheel Co. of Worcester, Massachusetts. This specific booklet was printed exclusively for distribution at the landmark 1901 Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, handed out to attendees exploring the Department of Machinery exhibition building.
A spectacular crossover artifact capturing early American industrial history and exposition ephemera, the multi-page booklet features detailed text and technical woodcut illustrations marketing early grinding tech and toolroom machinery. It features product pages for Norton Emery Wheel Machinery, the Walker Universal Tool and Cutter Grinder, and the ultra-precise Bath Machine Indicator. Most notably, page 5 displays a vibrant, multi-color lithographic trademark advertisement for "India Oil Stones" showcasing a striking Bengal Tiger graphic, documenting the historic sales partnership between Norton and The Pike Mfg. Co. of Pike Station, New Hampshire. The final pages preserve the factory hardness scale matrix (copyrighted 1888), standard regular wheel price lists, and a photographic etching of the massive Worcester production plant.
