A beautiful original October 12, 1901 issue of Harper’s Weekly, filled with elegant typography, striking black-and-white illustrations, early photography, political content, and wonderful turn-of-the-century advertising.
The cover features a portrait illustration of Edward M. Shepard, Tammany candidate for mayor, rendered in the bold graphic style that made Harper’s Weekly famous. Inside are multiple pages devoted to America’s Cup yacht racing, including dramatic maritime scenes and race imagery that display beautifully when framed.
This issue contains especially appealing nautical and sporting artwork, including yacht race scenes, theater photography, social illustrations, and detailed articles capturing the atmosphere of the early 1900s. The period advertising throughout is exceptional, with ads for household products, fashion, medicines, books, and other Edwardian-era goods that collectors love for research and display.
The oversized format and crisp typesetting make this issue particularly attractive for decorative use. Individual pages would look fantastic framed in a study, office, library, lake house, or coastal-inspired decor setting.
Measures approximately 16\" x 11\".
An outstanding piece of Americana from the golden age of illustrated weekly journalism.
