Photograph Album of Benjamin Osgood Pierce (1854–1914), Harvard mathematician, author of A Short Table of Integrals, son of Benjamin Peirce (Harvard’s “Father of Pure Mathematics in America”), and brother of philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce.
Album measures approx. 10\" × 12.5\". Original leather/cloth binding (spine perished, covers detached). Contains 67 original photographs, all but a couple mounted with corner slit holders (not glued) and thus easily removable if desired.
The handwritten label on the cover reads:
“Photographs taken by B. Osgood Pierce — Paris, Clarens, Chambéry, Berne, Lucerne, Grindelwald.”

The Peirce Family Legacy

Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914) – Benjamin Osgood Pierce’s brother, renowned as the father of American pragmatism and one of the most influential philosophers and logicians of the 19th century.

Condition
Binding heavily worn with detached boards, but photographs are generally well-preserved with strong clarity and contrast. Most remain loose in corner slots and can be removed without damage.
