ORIGINAL US ARMY SPANISH WAR SERVICE MEDAL RIBBON on period hand made Film Studio spool.
Upon this spool are approximately 30 INCHES of Ribbon.
On average the Cardboard Spools are 5" x 2.5" and the Wooden Spools are 4.5" x 2.5" in size.
This is a one of a kind piece that was recovered from what was once the PARAMOUNT PICTURES MENS WARDROBE DEPARTMENT who made patriotic war films from 1920 to 1949 (after 1949 the studio was incorporated and their stock of uniforms and insignias such as these ribbon spools were stored away to not see the light of day until last summer 2025).
Ribbon Bars for leading men and contract day players were fashioned by studio artisans from these very spools of original ribbon provided by local Los Angeles Army; Navy and Marine Film Liaison Officers (when "working" on a film production the various branch took an office on the studio lot where they read and made notes on scripts and worked with actors to best portray the character/s they played in the movie).
