William Hayes Tison was in business as Tison & Gordon, Cotton Factors.
Savannah letter is dated May 1, 1876. Tison writes of his plans to go to the Centennial (in Philadelphia)
The Cedar Grove letter is dated Aug 17, 1877. He writes of going to the Grand Union Hotel in Saratoga "where no jews are allowed"
This would prove to be one of his last letters, as he would die Nov 24, 1877. Even the town name of Cedar Grove was at it's last, being changed to Riverside in 1878.
Quite a number of Tison's served in the Confederate Army. Many from Florida and Georgia. He died in Glynn County Georgia.
