This is an exquisite antique Dutch needlework sampler, showing alphabets, crowns, flowers, birds, a stag and the coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam.
It is stitched on linen cloth with multi-colored silk thread.
The sampler is dated 1783.
It measures approximately 23 x 19 inches or 58.5 x 48.5 cm.
The sampler is in good condition, considering its age.
There is some minor loss of stitches, especially black colored stitches, please see photos.
The sampler was framed for a certain period of time, the edges were folded back and there are small holes with a bit of rust along the edge, and the cloth is somewhat dirty if a few places, please see photos.
