Here are 14 vintage Catholic holy cards that are a special find!
Each holy card has a unique image on the front. The images include Mary with holding the Baby Jesus, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, St. John Bosco,St. Francis, St Agnes, St. Anthony and Our Lady of Lourdes.
Four ofthe holy cards have prayers on the reverse side. There is the "The Motorist's Prayer", "Your Vocation" and a summer's goal list for boys and girls.
There arefour that are postcard size,measuring almost 5 5/8"H x 3 5/8"W. Oneis a traditional and very popular image of St John de la Salle teaching his young students and the other is a sweet portrait ofMary with the Baby Jesus. Both havethe dark blue sky and gold leafembossed stars that are recognized asFratelli Bonella artistry and are printed on medium cardstock.
The other two are also Fratelli Bonella prints in softer pastel colors on paper stock. They are images of Jesus as a young shepherd and Jesus with a host of sweet little angels.
This is a lovely vintage collection. All of the holy cards are printed on nice cardstock and are standard size, except for thefour mentioned above.They are printed in Italy, France andUS. Those that do not have prayers on the back are blank.
The holy cards all have copyrights and serial numbers.One is aNG Basevi holy card with the date of 1934. While there are no dates on the other cards, I would place them in the same era if not earlier.
The holy cards are in mint, pristine condition; in fact, many of them still have shiny gold leaf edging. There are no marks, bends or tears of any kind.
