12 VINTAGE 1948-63 GIRL SCOUT ITEMS-FIRST & SECOND CLASS,FELT NUMBERS,CHALLENGE For Sale

These items are from 1948-1963 and I have a lot of information on them to pass on to you. The Rank of Scouting was Tenderfoot (the Eagle Pin) Second Class (the Clover) then First Class (the Be Prepared Patch) being the hardest one to achieve- a girl had to earn 10 badges (from one of the program fields) for this but they were much harder to earn than todays badges. The FIRST CLASS PATCH is on MEDIUM GREEN Material and has white stitching on the back. The SECOND CLASS PATCH is also on MEDIUM GREEN Material with white stitching. The Clover was Green until 1955 when they made it in yellow. In the fall of 1941 the First Class Pin was produced and was allowed to be worn on the Intermediate uniform or Senior uniform. It could also be worn on non-uniform clothing. It was only 5/8” x1/2” pin and was enameled in Red and Green. This PIN is really good shape with the “J” clip. The FELT NUMBERS were offered in 1938 and they had to be specifically ordered. They were White Silk on a Green Wool Felt-Like Cloth. It took 2 weeks required for delivery. Single, Double and Triple numbers could be ordered. By 1943 numerals under 100 were kept in stock. In 1945 Troops were urged to order single numbers and sew them together. Starting in 1959, troop numbers were Single but remained the same size as the felt ones. In 1963 First Class became a Cadette Award. A series of Challenges had to be met and several badges had to be earned before a scout could earn this award. The First Class Program was discontinued in 1982 when the Silver Award replaced it.
