VANCOUVER, BC STERLING SILVER SPOON ~ 4.7\" ~ BM Co.
1938 Coat of Arms ~ Excellent Condition
VANCOUVER, BC STERLING SILVER TEASPOON ~ VINTAGE, 4.7\" long. Top of handle has the first heraldic provincial symbol, the Great Seal of the BC province. The Seal or Coat of Arms contains symbols reflecting British Columbia\'s British heritage along with local symbols. At the upper part of the shield is the Union Jack, representing the United Kingdom. The lower portion of the shield features a golden sun setting into the ocean, representing the province\'s location on the Pacific. The original arms, created in 1895, consisting of only the shield, were granted by royal warrant of King Edward VII on 31 March 1906. An updated Coat of Arms was adopted in 1960, which is on most collector spoons. Above the shield in silver on white is \"B COLUMBIA.\" In the bowl is the word, \"VANCOUVER BC\" in elegant uppercase letters. Further down on the handle is a single engraved and enameled Canadian maple leaf. The words, \"STERLING\" and \"BM Co\" are stamped on the top back of the handle. The Breadner Manufacturing Co founded in 1900 specialized in souvenir jewelry and spoons as the company had developed their own die making facilities. The company also made badges and emblems for the Armed Forces in WWII. I surmise the vintage to be the 1930s. The spoon is in excellent, like new condition. For shipping, I will send the spoon via USPS First Class Mail at the lowest available current rate to any address in the USA. I\'m not like some Internet sellers who build big profits into shipping and screw the buyer.Canadian Friends: I love you folks—lots of friends up north. But apparently the USPS hates you because the new postage rate is absurd! To send a single spoon (2 ounces) costs $17.85. Can you imagine! The USPS clearly does not like Canadians and I just can\'t justify quoting that cost on my listing. So go with international forwarding (equally high) or get a P.O. box across the border.100% of the proceeds of this sale go to Beyond the Walls (Charity)
