It has the original typed wartime caption and Newspaper Illustrations Ltd., 161A Strand, London markings on the back. Original vintage World War I press/news photograph, dating to approximately 1916, showing the residence of the Crown Prince of Romania at Sinaia, Romania.
The reverse retains its fascinating original typed wartime press caption, beginning “TYPES AND SCENES IN BEAUTIFUL ROUMANIA” and identifying the scene as the residence of the Crown Prince of Roumania at Sinaia. The caption also refers to the advancing German forces being very close at the time, giving this photograph significant WWI historical context.
The back bears Newspaper Illustrations Ltd., 161A Strand, W.C., London agency markings/stamp along with additional period publication/service markings.
This appears to be an original period press photograph, not a modern reproduction. A wonderful piece of WWI and Romanian royal history that would appeal to collectors of military photography, antique press photographs, European history, and royal memorabilia.
