Acquired at an estate sale in the Hamptonson Long Island is this P.J. Mene – 1810 – 1879 French sculptor andanimaliere. P.J. Mene is considered apioneer of animal sculptures in the 19th century. This sale is for the P.J. Mene elk onmarble base. Beautiful deep dark colorstatue and black marble base. Noapparent damage. Dimensions: about 14.75inches tall to the top of the antlers, about 19 inches long from the mouth tothe rear leg, elk is about 3 inches wide, elk base is 13.75 inches by 5.5inches and the marble base is 15 inches by 6 inches by 0.75 inch.
