Up for sale is an original vintage poster for Saint-Lary-Soulan, a ski resort tucked in the Hautes-Pyrénées in France. Great mid-century graphics here, crossed skis, an ice axe, a cable car against a bold red sky, with the line "Les plus vastes pistes des Pyrénées," meaning the widest ski runs in the Pyrenees. Signed and dated '56 in the plate.
This one's never been linen-backed, it's raw, just as it came off the press decades ago, and measures approximately 38.5 by 24.4 inches, essentially full original size with no trimming. That matters if you collect originals, since backing is a permanent alteration, and once it's done, you can't undo it.
Condition-wise, there's one small crease, nothing major, and the colors are still strong and vivid.
I looked hard for comparable pieces, and found exactly one other original anywhere for sale right now, and that one's already backed, priced at €1,200, around $1,350. An unbacked, untrimmed example like this one is even tougher to come by.
Buy It Now: $1,550. Also open to offers starting at $1,350. Buyer pays shipping, insured and tracked.
