This vintage RPPC (Real Photo Postcard) captures a piece of history with its depiction of the Lama Temple in Peking (Beijing). Despite its age of over 100 years, this postcard remains in good condition with minor corner wear and no rips or tears. There are small portions of the white border missing, as shown in the photos, and minor staining typical of its age, but no significant soiling. The handwritten message on the back is dated 1922.
During the early 1900s, the Lama Temple in Beijing was not only a significant Tibetan Buddhist monastery but also served as a center for diplomatic interactions between the Qing dynasty and Tibet. It played a crucial role in fostering cultural and religious exchanges, contributing to the understanding and influence of Tibetan Buddhism in China during that period.
