Exquisite Rare Ilvaite Crystal
The tiny white specks don\'t really show up except in certain light conditions and for the most part, it looks lustrous shiny black.

Ilvaite is a member ofthe Sorosilicate subclass of the silicate minerals. Sorosilicates have anunusual basic unit of Si2O7. This group of atoms is composed of two silicatetetrahedrons that share one oxygen giving the group an hourglass shape. Ilvaiteis not a common mineral. Well-formed crystals are rare. Ilvaite is Calcium Iron Silicate Hydroxide, CaFe3OSi2O7(OH).
Hardness is 5.5 –6 on the Mohs scale.
