c1915 Beaufort NC Train Station Postcard Railroad Carteret County North Carolina:
$299.99

This c1915 RPPC postcard of Beaufort NC is perfect for collectors of North Carolina railroad memorabilia.

Approximate size: 5.4 inches x 3.4 inches

I have this postcard listed as a train station, although this is unconfirmed. I'm gauging this off of the fact that the train has stopped, and there is someone hanging off the side, so it's likely stationary, and it's unlikely for the train to be stopped somewhere that isn't a train station. There is a large crowd by it, so likely passengers are either boarding or leaving the train to people greeting them. The train station, if it indeed exists in this postcard image's vicinity, however, is not in view, or a majority not in view.

This postcard is blind stamped in the bottom right corner, looking at the front. The train engine has the number "12" on the front.

Settled in 1709, Beaufort holds the title of the third oldest town in the state. Originally known as Fishtown, it was a fishing village and an important Atlantic seaport. The town was later named after Henry Somerset, Duke of Beaufort. Over time, patriots, privateers, merchants, and skilled craftsmen contributed to its growth, constructing Bahamian and West Indian-style homes and public buildings.

Approximately 150 restored historic homes bear plaques noting the names of the earliest known owners and original construction dates. Beaufort’s early economy relied on natural resources such as fishing, whaling, lumber production, naval stores, shipbuilding, and farming. Although it had the safest and most navigable harbor in North Carolina, extensive commercial activities didn’t develop due to its isolation from the interior.

Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition. May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing.
