X47s #3 These displays are beautiful! This is a great little glass dome with a knob top and a brown wooden base display showcasing a Rosy Maple Moth! These are great gifts and wonderful little displays! Overall, this display is approximately 3 1/2 x 2 3/4\".
Species and Fun Facts:Dryocampa rubicunda, the rosy maple moth, is a small North American moth in the family Saturniidae, also known as the great silk moths. As the common name of the species implies, the preferred host trees are maple tree. The rosy maple moth lives across the eastern United States and adjacent regions of Canada. The rosy maple moth is the smallest of the silk moths; males have a wingspan of 3.2 to 4.4 centimetres (1.25-1.75 in); females of 3.8 to 5 centimetres (1.5–2 in). The species can be identified by their unique, but varying, pink and yellow coloration. They have reddish-to-pink legs and antennae, yellow bodies and hindwings, and pink forewings with a triangular yellow band across the middle. These little guys are beautiful!
When purchasing this item you are agreeing to the following: No claims for small broken parts such as legs, antennae or a detached wing, these are so fragile that they cannot be guaranteed in shipping. Wings and other small parts are easily fixable and you should be aware that you may have to fix (glue) a part when purchasing items like these. These are natural specimens and can contain a flaw or two like a shorter antenna or broken or missing leg. We do our best to make sure they are close to perfect but a few might get by us although usually the flaw is minor and something that does not deflect from the beauty of the insect itself. If there is a major problem I will take care of the matter. See my response for confirmation. I rarely have a problem but even with good packaging it is impossible for us to Guarantee that specimens will arrive totally intact although I have had very few problems to date.NOTE: If your item is in a glass dome please be aware that the domes are NOT permanently connected to the base. Care has to be taken when opening or removing the dome so not to damage the display or specimen.
