This is a classic Lodge No 8 cast ironskillet with markers mark "F2". The skillets from this series were manufactured from the 1940 to the early 1960s. The cooking surface has light utensilscores and patches of fine etching from corrosion. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a very smooth surface. Pan does notsit flat on a polished granite surface and is not recommended for use on aceramic stovetop (see photos). No chips, cracks or repairs. Testfor flatness of pan. With the pan resting on a polished granite surface, pressdown all along the top rim of the pan searching for movement. If movementis found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the pan until the panstops moving.
This itemwas stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath andelectrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue fromprevious use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned withone round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in verybright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, itemsmay take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
