This vintage concho belt owned by Steven Greene who is an Indian trader. He grew up on Mt. Lemon in Tucson, Arizona has his parents owned the then existing lodge. Steven was adventurous had a great relationship with the Indians as it is said it was part of his life growing up on Mt. Lemon . Those of you in the Tucson area are familiar with the different Indian reservations close by, this was Steve and part of his childhood and his passions . . . He passed away in 2000 and actually was my husband and I decided it was time to sell his belt and let somebody else enjoy this magnificent piece as well as a piece of the Navajo history . It’s on the original leather ( which I know he had had to replace back at the reservations over the years . It has been stored properly .

This superb Concho belt circa 1920 ‘s is in genuine cow leather and composed of exceptional handmade silver conchos and , thanks to repousse and stamped techniques.

The leather has tanned throughout the years. The conchas are in perfect condition and have this amazing dark tone that silver takes over the time.

This is a great early Navajo concho belt.
It has 10 conchos with closed centers and a rectangular hand wrought buckle. The conchos have triangular scalloping around the edge with stamped "V" in each triangular edge point with a punch decoration separating the "V's". The closed center oval has repoussé design work with a diamond in the center. The buckle has extensive stamping and repoussé work.
