Thomas Edison Board Agrees To Continue Monthly Payments To Mrs. Edison:
$375.00

THOMAS ALVA EDISON (February 11, 1847-October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman who developed many devices in the fields of electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording and motion pictures. Early in his career, he worked as a telegraph operator, which inspired some of his earliest inventions. With 1,093 US patents in his name as well as patents in other countries, Edison is regarded as the most prolific inventor in American history.

3 pp on two leaves, 8 1/2 x 11, minutes of a meeting of the board of directors of Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated, apparently excised from a meeting minutes book with eight signatures of family members, including some duplicates. The first page is marked 49 at the top right. At this meeting, the board votes to continue an honorarium to Mrs. Mina M. Edison, Thomas Edison’s widow, during the calendar years of 1933 and 1934 of $1,250 per month with terms and conditions noted. The 2022 equivalent is $28,540. Signed on the verso by Charles Edison, C.S.W. (Charles S. Williams Jr.), H.H. Eckert, Henry Lanahan, Thomas A. Edison Jr., H.F. Miller and J.V. Miller, plus the secretary. The second leaf is a full, true and correct copy of the meeting’s minutes, also signed by the aforementioned people plus Theodore M. Edison (Thomas Edison’s Estate Executor, Mina M. Edison. Mrs. Edison continued to offer her services after her husband’s death, hence the payments recorded and approved by the board.

Expected toning, but very fine and a wonderful example of scientific Americana.
