SS Schwerin Automobile Car Ferry Ship German Ice Boats RPPC Real Photo Postcard The german ferry SS SCHWERIN was built by the german shipyard SCHICHAU-WERFT at Elbing (today Elblag) near Danzig (= Gdansk).She was launched 15/4/1926 and was delivered to the german railways DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN in the same year.The SCHWERIN was damaged by ice during the hard cool winter 1928/1929 and was rescued by the chartered soviet ice-breakers JERMAK and TRUVOR on 10th March, 1929.During the air attacks of Rostock she sunk 20/2/1944 by bombs at the shipyard AG -NEPTUN- and was refloated later on but not repaired.
She was scrapped in 1949.
