This listing is for a very rare vintage replica relief carved wall plaque fragment of a Chancel screen. It depicts growing grapevines and peacocks, symbolizing eternal life. The fragment is a reproduction of one from jube Byzantine, Constantinople or Venice, circa 11th-12th century. Made of heavy cast gypsum cement stone, it weighs 3.7 kilograms, measures about 9” high x 15.5” diameter; and has a wire to the verso to allow for hanging. A similar one is located in the Bode Museum in Berlin.
