Raymond Johnson \'Ne Clah He\' Navajo Original Tempera on Paper depicting 5 tribal members trading sandals Measures 14\" long x 9.5\" Wide mounted in a wonderful maple wood frame Condition this is 100% Original  Raymond (ne-Chah-He) Johnson (mid 20th century) was active/lived in United States.  Raymond Johnson is known for Native American figure and genre painting.Navajo artist Raymond ( Ne-Chah-He) Johnson began his art career in the 1960’s, showing his work at the annual Scottsdale. Throughout his career he worked to portray and preserve the Diné culture and worked closely with Diné College and the Navajo Community College Press towards that end. In October, 2018 after his passing, Ned Hatathli Museum at Diné College had a retrospective exhibition of his work, releasing the following statement:“The late Raymond Johnson, a Navajo artist, was commissioned to draw the images for the Navajo Community College Press. His artwork can still be seen in the publications of Navajo Studies at Navajo Community College (1971) and Navajo Stories of the Long Walk (1973). The exhibit of Raymond Johnson is the story of an unsung hero whose artwork graced the pages of many books that depicted traditional and modern images of Navajo life. The exhibit will describe the history and story of Raymond Johnson. His images remind us of our past and it allows us to reflect on the past 150-years since the signing of the treaty of 1868 and to celebrate 50 years of our Nation’s college, Diné College – the first tribally controlled college in the country. Remember We Want you happy We have a no hassle return policy
