Papagoite Ajoite Mix 2.75” X 2” X 1”, Weighs 113.34 Grams

Beautiful rare bright blue Papagotite, Ajoite, Malachite Native Copper from the Gila River Indian Reservation by a ***Member of the Tribe, An O'Otham, Gila River Pima Native American Indian, a Descendant of the Ancient Hohokam Native Peoples peoples (See more information Below). This Papagoite is associated with the “Sand Papagoite” as called by the Native people. This specimen is from the Sacaton Mountains in Sacaton, Pinal Co., Arizona., which is very close to the town of Ajo in southwestern Arizona, and in fact, Ajo was a company town for the miners and is the name typically associated with the mining district. The Ajo ajoite, is also blue-green copper silicates oxidized from the copper rich hypogene minerals. Arizona specimens are sprays of bladed prismatic crystals (elongated along the C Axis), small ~3-5 mm), and flattened. The crystals on my specimen are the flattened sprays that almost appear to be mats. MinDat lists 83 valid minerals known from the Location including two, ajoite (K,Na)Cu7AlSi9O24(OH)6-3H2O) and papagoite (CaCu[H3AlSi2O9]), near the area acquired.
