RARE 7 Lucky Gods Nodder Kokeshi Doll Set Fine Detail Old Stock 1960's Mint

Each Kokeshi piece measures 2.5" to 3.5" tall. The Sosaku style Kokeshi dolls literally means "Creative Creations" and they are a type of wooden dolls made by turning on a lathe like the traditional Kokeshi dolls. The difference is that in general, Sosaku Kokeshi artists are trying to express a certain theme through designing dolls.
This set represents the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan, Shichi-Fuku-Jin. They are a group of popular deities whose origins stem from Indian, Chinese and Japanese gods of fortune: Ebisu, Daikoku, Benzaiten, Hotei, Fukurokuju, Jurojin and Bishamonten. Shichi means seven, Fuku means luck, and Jin means god. Each of these seven Gods has specific characteristics in appearance, clothes and props that he or she carries. These physical characteristics of each of the seven lucky Gods are distinct in that they are specifically related to the respective professions they patronize. The seven lucky gods look after the physical and commercial well-being of people and have come to be honored throughout the country of Japan.
Each piece is a Nodder Kokeshi and hand painted details as well as charming props and tools of their trades are all still intact and in excellent condition. It is a rare new old stock set and its age is from the 1960's.
