This majolica has 2 chips to the back of its bottom base which were very lightly touched up (not restoration) to reduce their visual effects. There are a few minor nicks which are being mentioned for a complete record. Because of the chips, this majolica is being offered in as is and a very low price. The colors are vivid and beautiful.It is marked marked 6478/44. Like almost all of theblackamoor majolica,his face and hands are COLD PAINTED meaning they were not fired in the kiln for technical reasons so that theyhave amatte glaze appearance rather than glossy. Please ask question before purchasing it if you are not familiar with cold paint. Like most antique majolica, it has some crazing and minor discoloration. Please disregard the lighting glares.
