Presented for your consideration is this gorgeous antique garniture set. The set consists of a clock and 2 candlesticks. All three pieces have an ornate design throughout with rounded scroll feet. The clock has a large trophy shaped urn finial on the top with lady busts on the left and right sides of the urn. Each of the ladies has wings. The left and right sides of the clock case feature large lion heads.Each of the lions holds a large ring in its mouth. The face of the clock is also brass and bares an ornate pattern with white porcelain dots where the numbers are. The porcelain pieces have Roman numerals on them in cobalt blue. The back of the clock has a works access door. The works look to be in good condition and are marked with the Japy Freres hallmark.Japy Freres was a French clock maker who founded his business in 1806. He was a pioneer in the industrializationof clocks and manufacturing in general. The candlesticks match the clock has have a removable flur dis lis finial (which acts as a snuffer) in the top center candlestick and winged lady busts around the middle. Each candlestick has 4 arms with a center post so in total each candlestick can hold 5 taper style candlesticks. Gorgeous, intricate detailing is throughout each piece.The clock is guaranteed to be old. Dates to about the 1880s. Would make a wonderful addition to any timepiece/clock collection! A nice way to add a little elegance to any room or mantle!
No pendulum or key is included. Therefore the clock is untested so we are unsure if it is in proper working condition or not. Some light tarnish spots are along the bottom of the front of the clock and one candlestick. The works access door does not close all the way. One snuffer has some bending around the bottom. One drip guard is missing on each of the candlesticks. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Sold as found. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Clock measures 11 1/2\" wide, 8 1/4\" deep and 17 5/8\" tall.Each candlestick measures 7\" square and 21 1/2\" tall.
