National Cash Register Model 126; Collectible, Vintage; works: $150.00
The key has gone missing, but the number display, key levers, drawer functions all work and it's in strong, sound physical shape.. The number levers are quite sticky, though, so it will be an outstanding decor item or rewarding project for a mechanically inclined person. There are additional displays inside the machine that tally sales totals. -Has some scuffs and paint scratches here and there but is in overall good used condition. A couple of the numbers on key buttons are missing. Metal bottom shows some rust. Glass is intact. Wooden drawer is intact and has the original removable plastic coin tray.-Model number 126(2)x. Serial number 4354716 dates to 1948. (Preceding "sh" may indicate that the machine was refurbished by the manufacturer at some early point.) -Stamped with Dayton, Ohio.-This is heavy (~65-70lbs); sorry, shipping is not available for this one. Phoenix area pick-up or delivery only.-The programmed amounts range from 1 cent to five dollars.-National Cash Register became the famous NCR, and had a colorful history including criticisms of patent fraud and hucksterism, but also of high-quality machines and ground-breaking marketing. -FWIW...early cash registers were not created to make things easier for cashiers - they did not do any external calculations - but rather to make it hard for them to steal from the customers or the till.
