James C Joe. was a renowned Navajo Artist and one of the first to transform sand paintings into a contemporary medium by using glue to fix the sand to boards. A medicine man, or hatahli, James Joe also helped set the parameters for what was acceptable when it came to turning a sacred healing art into a fine art.Please feel free to ask questions.
