~*~ Welcome To Our Estate Find sale ~*~UP FOR sale:A RARE ~ early 1900\'sStyle - Victorian (of the period)A Gorgeous French Barbotine Majolica Glazed Figural Double Vase featuring two very bright and colorful green parrots perched on a bamboo branch in between two cylindrical vases painted with flowers.Coloration; green, blue, yellow and pink are predominentThis piece is in VERY GOOD overall condition. It\'s wear is consistent with its age and use. There are a few small areas of glaze loss to vase rims, shows crackling on the inside of vases, has a small chip of paint off one tail feather and one bird has an indent to its tail feather (could have been made that way). The Massier family, were a dynasty of potters dating back to before the French Revolution. The family played a key role in the revival of pottery in Vallauris, Southern France.Important in the Massier production were a series of large naturalistically modelled figural roosters, hens and other birds.Vases and wall pockets styled as orchids, intensely colored irises and sunflowers are among the most common Massier styles.A variety of humorous pieces bearing frogs and songbirds are popular among collectors.Most all of my sales are vintage estate finds and therefore their condition is consistent with their age.
