Important Antique French Needlework Album Block Quilt Wall Hanging 1888 ZZ148 For Sale

A very rare and special antique textile which combines the Album Quilt with the Crazy Quilt. It consists of wool squares in beautifully blended different colors. On each square, you see a vivid, colorful and beautifully executed embroidery motif. The squares are then stitched together very artfully — each side of each square with a different brightly colored stitch. There are so many different stitches used that it is impossible to count. It is signed with initials “A.K.” by the maker, and dated “1888”. It has a wide gold velvet border and wonderful backing in 2 complimentary beautiful, classic French 19th Century cotton prints. In the back, the top has a rod pocket attachment band, if you should choose to hang it on the wall. This is a piece you will not see again!

The condition is excellent. We find no noticeable defects.
