Hogan Wings Lockheed L1049G Constellation KLM Airlines 1:200 EXTREMELY RARE:
$179.95

The first production L-049 Constellation was the first model in the Constellation line. It made it's maiden flight on July 14, 1945. The L-749 was an upgrade from the L-649 that incorporated a larger fuel capacity, strengthened landing gear, and eventually, weather radar. The Constellation was Lockheed's response to the successful Douglas DC-6. The aircraft was also produced for both the United States Navy as the WV/R7V and the United States Air Force as the C-121, for transport, electronics, and airborne early warning and control aircraft. A total of 856 Constellations of various models were manufactured. There are, unfortunately, only a few airworthy Constellations left today.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. Founded in 1919, it is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. They have 111 passenger and cargo aircraft in their inventory. The Constellation joined KLM's fleet in 1946. In earlier years, the airline had a total of 48 Constellations of various models providing service from 1946 to 1966, with 6 of the "L-1049G" models. This aircraft (PH-LKG), was delivered to KLM on 20 January 1956. It flew under the name "Griffioen" and was the first aircraft to make the direct Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia inaugural flight in 1958. PH-LKG flew with KLM until 01 June 1961 when it was taken out of service. The aircraft was everntually scrapped in 1966 (how very sad).
This beautiful 1:200 scale die-cast reproduction of this famous aircraft is a highly detailed, out of production and extremely difficult model to find model. It has a beautiful KLM "The Flying Dutchman" livery finish. The model is new and only taken out of the box for photographing purposes to show the fine quality and detail. All sales are final. Shipping to the continental USA only.
NOTE: This model is missing the original display stand. I have included a spare Hogan Models stand I had. For that reason, I am listing this model as used. The model itself is new and has never been displayed.
NOTE: This aircraft model box is marked by the manufacturer; Socatec/Hogan Wings Models. It is one of 2500 pieces limited edition models made. It is an out of production, extremely difficult model to find and will be an excellent addition to any historic KLM aircraft collector, any Constellation collector or any aviation enthusiast's collection. The box has been in long term storage and moved around quite a bit, and has storage wear. I could not locate another model like this on an internet search. This is the only one available.
NOTE: The last photograph in the series is of the actual PH-LKG preparing for its next flight.
