- Incredible find! From Fine Palm Springs Estate!

- Approximately 3 miles north west of Robin Hood's Bay, Rigg Mill can be reached by a pathway through Larpool Woods which is said to be part of an Old Monks Trod. It has been thought that a Mill had been on this site from 1316 as an account of a dispute between the Abbot of Whitby, who pwned the land and Sir Alexander de Percy, the tenant is described in a book by Charlton. The tenants thought that the half of a mark rent demanded by the Abbot was too much. The corn mill was destroyed, but after a period of about 8 years the tenants begged the Abbot to let them re-build it and agreed to pay the usual rent. Restoration of the farm and mill commenced on the feast of St. Martin in the winter of 1316.
