Kate Greenaway. (1846-1901). English Victorianartistand writer, known for her children's book illustrations. She began her career designing for the burgeoning holiday card market, producing Christmas and Valentine's cards. Her first book, Under the Window (1879), a collection of simple, perfectly idyllic verses about children, was aninstant bestseller. Shealso published The Birthday Book (1880). Mother Goose (1881), Little Ann (1883) and other books for children, which had an enormous success and became very highly valued. These books created a revolution in book illustration; they were praised by John Ruskin.
Autograph letter signed, one page, March 29, 1890, 60Frugal, Hampstead, on 3.75x6 sheet of paper, professionally matted and framed to overall size 14x16 inches. In full, "Dear Miss Scott.
