Very beautiful - FMS - Wall Clock. From my collection. ANTIQUE GERMAN - FMS - WALL CLOCK . Manufakturer Original Germany Friedrich Mauthe & Sohns. The Clock is in Fantastic condition! The clock looks great for his age and it is working. The clock is running very well . The clock strikes for the full and half hour. Key will be delivered with the clock.
The Mauthe clocks had a long history in Germany. In 1844 Friedrich Mauthe (1822 - 1884) and his wife Marie started the company in Schwenningen to produce watch parts. By the end of 1860 they began to produce wall clocks and movements. In 1876 the sons Christian (1845 - 1909) and Jacob (1847 - 1915) too over. In 1886 they began manufacturing their own springs and around 1990 alarm clocks, pendulum wall clocks, grandfather clocks, office clocks and buffet clocks. In 1904 the 3rd generation took over with Eugene Schreiber (1877 - 1939) (the son of Christian Mauthe) and Dr Fritz Mauthe (1875 - 1951) (son of Jacob) and Alfred (1879 - 1911) (son of Jacob). In 1915 the company added its own sawmill and milling shop. The company did close in 1976.
- This belonged to my Grandmother & Grandfather who were antique collectors. Im unsure where they obtained it but have had it over 40 years.
- circa 1900s and in great condition. However, the wood on back right side is showing a crack. Can be easily repaired and can not be seen when hung up & on display.
- No other damages or major imperfections (no other cracks, big chips, large scratches or missing parts) except a few scratches & Knicks which can be expected due to its age.
- Pendulum is removable as seen in photos and the key is included. It will need to be leveled & set (which is usual for these style clocks) but is in great working condition
