This offer is for one Very Rare, Large, Solid Bronze 17th - 18th century, 100% Authentic Spanish colonial religious medal. This Incredible medal features a total of three Saints. One side features Saint Agatha of Sicily facing right holding a plate of her two severed breasts. It has the inscription, S. AGATA ORA PR. NOBIS, meaning Saint Agatha Pray For Us. Saint Agatha, sometimes spelled Agata, is one of the Most Highly Venerated Virgin Martyrs of the Catholic Church who lived during the third century. She is the Patron Saint for Breast Cancer Patients and is often prayed to for Intercession. She is also the Patron Saint for Sicily, Rape victims, Wet Nurses, Intercessor for People who Suffer from Fires, Bakers and Bellfounders due to the shape of her severed breasts. She is also known for Courage and Strength during difficult times. The other side features two other Saints. Saint John of Matha and Saint Felix of Valois and the inscription, S. JOANN DE MATHA. F / S. FELIX. D. VAL. F, The base inscription is partially worn but reads, ROMA.ORD.88.TR.RED.CAPT. Saint John of Matha, sometimes spelled Joann, lived between 1160 - 1213 and is the Cofounder of the Order of The Most Holy Trinity also known as the Trinitarians. He is prayed to for liberating grace for those suffering Captivity of the Soul and Body, (Addiction), as well as asking for compassion and commitment to Christian love. Saint Felix of Valois lived between 1127 - 1212. He is also a Cofounder of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity and is often prayed to for Freedom from the bondage of Sin. This beautiful early colonial representation of Christianity will make a great addition to any collection. It has a worn but unbroken suspension loop and is complete. It measures over 4 1/2 CM in length and weighs a heavy 18.79 Grams. This medal is perfect for anyone who appreciates religious artifacts and symbols and early colonial artifacts, especially those related to Christianity and is Guaranteed 100% authentic.
