Etched Ship and Whale Colored Design Scrimshaw Collection Large Pocket Knife :
$61.20

This beautiful hand etched Ship and Whale Vertical Colored Scrimshaw design on a 440 Stainless Steel Blade LB 5 Knife. This beautiful knife is part of the Scrimshaw Collection, with those words laser engraved into the blade. The LB 5 knifes come with the pictured leather sheath and each scale is made with Bovine Bone. The LB 5 Knife has bolsters and shackle that are nickel silver with brass pins and liner. It is a lock blade knife and a very useful pocket knife. The dimensions of the LB 5 Pocket Knife with the blade closed are 3.71" x 0.90" x 0.39". The blade itself is approximately 2.80" making the width of the knife with an open blade 6.51". The SKU is LB-5 403V

The scrimshaw is inked with black india ink and sealed with renaissance wax, which is used by museums for antique restoration. It also helps bring out the beauty of the artwork as well as in the cow bone. The knife is water resistant, but not waterproof.

The back of the knife is a blank bovine bone.

The artwork was originally hand etched by Bill Feeney. Hereceived a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Saint Francis College in buyerford, Maine, In 1973 I accepted a teaching position at Westport High School where Imet Robert Rayno, the art teacher. As part of the class curriculum, he taught a section on scrimshaw. I sat in on many of his classes and purchased the necessary tools and ivory to begin etching. Combining my natural artistic ability with the techniques learned from Mr. Rayno, the cornerstone of "Spouting Whale" was established.

Each knife is hand etched, and there will be some minor differences between each knife.
