First Edition with full number line In Mint condition. Gray cloth bound boards with silver lettering on spine. Signed on the first free endpaper both by the subject of the book, Commander of the Exodus Yossi Harel and the the author Yoram Kaniuk with the inscription "To Gabriel. Thank you". Mylar protected jacket also in Mint condition. A copy of The New York Times obituary of Yossi Harel is included.

Yossi Harel (1918–2008) was an Israeli naval officer best known for his instrumental role in organizing and commanding the historic immigration ship, Exodus in 1947. Born in Romania, Harel played a crucial part in the clandestine immigration of Holocaust survivors to British Mandate Palestine aboard the Exodus. This event drew international attention to the plight of Jewish refugees and had a profound impact on the establishment of the State of Israel. Harel's leadership in this daring mission contributed to the narrative of Jewish perseverance and the eventual creation of the Jewish homeland.

Yoram Kaniuk (1930–2013) was an Israeli novelist, painter, and journalist known for his diverse literary contributions. Born in Jerusalem, on May 2, 1930, Kaniuk's works often grapple with the complexities of Israeli identity and history and his writing is marked by its lyrical style and exploration of existential themes. Yoram Kaniuk left a lasting impact on Israeli literature, earning accolades for his unique voice and insightful reflections on the human experience.
