BIG 27\" Tall Carved Teak Buddha Buddhist Monk Arahant Standing on Lotus w/ Bowl For Sale

Large 27\" tall carved teak standing Buddhist monk with alms bowl, standing on a lotus flower pedestal.  This is likely a representation of one of the five Arahants/Arhats, who were the Buddha\'s first followers that attained enlightenment.  Carved from solid teak heartwood, the craftmanship and detail is sublime.  There are numerous natural openings and fissures in the wood.  The wood is in its natural state, not oiled.  Interestingly, the back of the left arm is scorched.  Don\'t know if that happened before or after it was carved.  No soot comes off when touched.  It could be left as is, or carefully sanded.  Personally, I like it as is.  Attaining enlightenment is not easy, and this one had a trial by fire!  Unsure of where it came from, though I am guessing Burma (Myanmar) or Thailand.  Measures 27\" tall, with a 6 1/2\" wide base and weighs 10 lbs 1 oz.
