Antique Fairchild 9 Gold & Mother of Pearl Dip Pen~Full Flex Nib #2~Original Case
For sale a dip pen made by Leroy W. Fairchild before 1900. The pen is six inches long, the nib and section are gold and the taper is what appears to be mother-of-pearl.
Engraved on the section: "Fairchild 9" The nib is a #2 and on the nib engraved: "Leroy W. Fairchild, New York, 2"
It also comes in its own case with the name of the maker labeled inside in what appears to be purple velvet. The case is latched with two hooks at either end.
The pen is in Excellent condition, with few, if any signs of use. The edges of the tines on the nib are somewhat overlapping (please see the photo with the red arrow pointing to it)--I don't know if this is due to the design of this flex nib, or (more likely) the tines need to be adjusted. The box is structurally 100%, and the clasps lock but it has outer shelf wear--please see the photos
It will be shipped well protected inside a sturdy box.
