Lucky Chap Entertainment, the female-focused film and TV production company founded by actress Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, Barbie), announced in early April 2024 that it will be producing a feature film featuring AVENGELYNE to be directed by Olivia Wilde. While previous attempts to bring Avengelyne to the big screen in 2013 and 2016 didn't materialized, having Robbie behind the Rob Liefeld-created character is a guarantee that the sexy demon-battling and otherwise avenging angel will finally have her prayers answered. We can only hope that at some point down the road, an Avengelyne / Barbie team-up is also in the cards.
Created and first published by Maximum Press in 1995 and inspired by both the likeness of a Vampirella cosplay model and the comic books series Warrior Nun Areala, Avengelyne wound up for a short stint at AVATAR PRESS from 2000-2002 then went on hiatus until Image Comics brought the character back in 2011 an eight-issue series.
Avengelyne: Seraphicide is the last Avatar Press publication of Avengelyne, a two-issue series with Issue #1/2 (Prelude) and Issue #1. The #1/2 issue was published with (8) covers, half of which had Limited Print Runs of 3000, the other half with runs of just 100. Two of the 1000-copy Print Run Variants were BONDAGE COVERS, with Karl Waller's flesh-toned cover being one of the pair. Carrie Hall's similarly colored Variant Cover of Issue #1 rounds out our Seraphicide Set.
